A Night of Nostalgia and Rising Stars: Dashboard Confessional, Boys Like Girls, and Taylor Acorn

Boys Like Girls on stage at MGM Music Hall in Boston, MA

On September 11th, 2024, MGM Music Hall played host to a stellar lineup featuring Dashboard Confessional, Boys Like Girls, and rising star Taylor Acorn. The evening was a perfect blend of nostalgia and fresh talent, leaving the audience energized and craving more.

Taylor Acorn: A Star in the Making

Opening the show was Taylor Acorn, who delivered one of the strongest sets of the night. With her debut album "Survival in Motion" set to release in just two days, Acorn showcased why she's generating so much buzz in the industry.

Acorn's vocals have drawn comparisons to powerhouses like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne, but it's her empowering stage presence that truly sets her apart. Despite having only a guitarist and drummer backing her, Acorn's band produced a surprisingly deep and resonant sound that filled the venue.

While she may have been the opener this time, it's clear that Taylor Acorn won't be in that position for long. Mark my words: we'll be seeing her headlining major venues in the very near future.

Boys Like Girls: Infectious Energy

Taking the middle slot was Boys Like Girls, proving that their music is just as infectious now as it was when they exploded onto the scene in 2006. The band had the crowd singing along to every word, demonstrating the enduring appeal of their catchy pop-rock anthems.

Their set reached a fever pitch with the closing number, their mega-hit "The Great Escape." As the final chords rang out, the entire audience was fully hyped and ready for the main event.

Dashboard Confessional: Nostalgia in Full Force

Headlining the night was Dashboard Confessional, a treat that sent waves of nostalgia through many in the audience, myself included. For those of us who came of age in the early 2000s, Dashboard's music was the soundtrack to our formative years.

Despite the passage of time, Chris Carrabba and his band haven't lost a single step. They delivered an electric performance that took full advantage of MGM Music Hall's expansive stage. From intimate acoustic moments to full-band rock-outs, Dashboard Confessional proved why they've remained beloved for over two decades.

As the final notes faded away, it was clear that this night would be remembered as a perfect harmony of past and future, with established acts sharing the stage with tomorrow's headliners. For music fans of any age, this was a concert not to be missed.
